These spectacular Antique Suffragette earrings were made during the early 20th Century and have a wonderful double drop design with a Peridot (approx. 0.30ct) set at the top and a vibrant Amethyst (approx. 1.45ct) bezel set in a halo of Pearls.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White stones which were chosen to counter the masculine women’s rights stereotypes put forward by opponents. Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The scrolling gold metalwork is all 18ct Yellow Gold and decorated with fine milgrain detailing around the Amethyst and crowned with a golden Forget me not in the centre which carries a message of love and remembrance.
They are a fabulous representation of the movement and look stunning dangling from each ear.
